The Kimel Estate was owned by an outsider until he turned it over to a group of indigenous landowners.  Over 432 farmers have a stake in this estate's success.  

The estate provides schooling for children and medical facilities for the workforce and their dependents. Clean running water has been made available to the estate workers by way of a community project and its implementation is overseen by the estate’s management.

 

Why we love this coffee:

  • This co-op is run by the indigenous Opais tribe and has a long history of farming the land with sustainable methods.
  • Has a nice balance in the cup when roasted dark.  
  • Main flavors tend toward orange marmalade and a bit of cinnamon spice.

Received wrong thing

My husband ordered and got the wrong bag of coffee. We emailed and called and left a review and heard nothing. Then, I ordered the same- trying to get the correct bag for my husband and we still got the wrong bag. With no response- EVER. scam. No refund or anything.

Wrong product

I received Sumatra Aceh and not the Papua New Guinea Kimel Estate. Shipping took 10 days to go 2 1/2 hours drive—I would have been better off picking it up myself.
